We study the application of the geographic nearest neighbor approach to two problems. The first problem is the construction of an approximately minimum length rectilinear Steiner tree for a set ofn points in the plane. For this problem, we introduce a variation of a subgraph of sizeO(n) used by YaO [31] for constructing minimum spanning trees. Using this subgraph, we improve the running times of the heuristics discussed by Bern [6] fromO(n 2 log n) toO(n log2 n). The second problem is the construction of a rectilinear minimum spanning tree for a set ofn noncrossing line segments in the plane. We present an optimalO(n logn) algorithm for this problem. The rectilinear minimum spanning tree for a set of points can thus be computed optimally without using the Voronoi diagram. This algorithm can also be extended to obtain a rectilinear minimum spanning tree for a set of nonintersecting simple polygons.The results in this paper are a part of Y. C. The effects of chronic injection of U50,488H (trans-3,4-dichloro-N-[2-(1-pyrrolidinyl)cyclohexyl]benzeacetamidel++ +), a selective kappa opioid agonist, on the properties of the binding sites of tritiated U69593 [(5 alpha,7 alpha,8 beta)-(-)-N-methyl-N-(7-(1-pyrrolidinyl)-1-oxaspiro (4,5)dec-8-yl)benzeneacetamide], another selective kappa opioid agonist, and mechanical responses to U50,488H of the heart were studied. Rats received injection twice a day with U50,488H for 4 days. Binding studies on the crude membrane homogenates revealed that there was no change in maximum binding, but a significant increase in Kd after the treatment, indicating that the number of kappa binding sites remained unchanged whereas the affinity of the binding sites to kappa-agonist decreased. The study on the mechanical responses to U50,488H in the isolated perfused heart preparation showed that although the agonist at 10(-6) M caused MR2266 reversible reductions in heart rate and force of contraction as well as ventricular ectopic beat in the heart of rats in the control group, its effects were absent in the U50,488H-treated group, indicating the development of tolerance to the mechanical effects of U50,488H on the heart. The results indicate that the development of tolerance to the mechanical effects of a kappa-agonist after chronic treatment with the agonist was not accompanied by down-regulation, but only a slight and significant reduction in affinity of kappa binding sites in the rat heart.  相似文献

A method for the historical elastoplastic analysis of plane frames under the assumption of small deformation theory is presented. Interaction of bending moment and axial force is taken into account. A major feature of the procedure lies in the piecewise linearization of the convex nonlinear yield surface, thereby guaranteeing the satisfaction of both equilibrium and yield conditions. Local unloading can also be catered for. A computer program based on this technique has been written and three simple numerical examples are given to illustrate its capabilities.  相似文献

A neurostimulator application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) with scalable circuitry that can stimulate 14 channels, has been developed for an epi-retinal vision prosthesis. This ASIC was designed to allow seven identical units to be connected to control up to 98 channels, with the ability to stimulate 14 electrodes simultaneously. The neurostimulator forms part of a vision prosthesis, designed to restore vision to patients who have lost their sight due to retinal diseases such as retinitis pigmentosa and macular degeneration. For charge balance, the neurostimulator was designed to stimulate with current sources and sinks operating together, and with the ability to drive a hexagonal mosaic of electrodes to reduce the electrical crosstalk that occurs when multiple bipolar stimulation sites are active simultaneously. A hexagonal mosaic of electrodes surrounds each stimulation site and has been shown to effectively isolate each site, increasing the ability to inject localized independent charge into multiple regions simultaneously.  相似文献

In recent years, the Asia-Pacific region has experienced several financial setbacks, including speculative attacks in 1998 and the SARS outbreak in 2003. Financial stresses of this nature are unanticipated, and not all of the dangers can be predicted by the examination of market information and macroeconomic indicators. The Early Warning System (EWS) that has been adopted by the International Monetary Fund may not be able to predict future financial crises for all possible scenarios, because shocks come in many different forms. To supplement the EWS, this paper proposes a data mining framework to measure the resilience of an economy. The resilience framework does not predict a crisis, but rather assesses the current state of health of an economy and its ability to withstand a financial shock should one occur. The framework is based on a feedback system consisting of two stages. The first stage assigns a resilience score to each economy based on a fuzzy logic scoring scheme that is built on the ambiguous reasoning of experts. The second stage uses the classification tree approach to estimate thresholds for each economic indicator, and examines the quality of the fuzzy score. The result from the second stage is then passed back to the first stage as feedback. The final result is obtained when the feedback system reaches its equilibrium state. The proposed resilience framework is applied to the external-sector and the public-sector economies of several countries to illustrate its applicability.  相似文献

Nickel-rich β-NiAl alloys, which are potential materials for high-temperature shape-memory alloys, show a thermoelastic martensitic transformation, which produces their shape memory effect. However, the transformation to Ni5Al3 phase during heating of NiAl martensite can interrupt the reversible martensitic transformation; consequently, the shape memory effect in NiAl martensite might not appear after heating. The phase transformation process in binary Ni-(34 to 37)Al martensite was investigated by differential thermal analysis (DTA) method, and we found that the condition of reversible martensitic transformation was not the β → Ni5Al3 transformation, but rather the M → Ni5Al3 transformation occurring at 250 °C to 300 °C. Therefore, the transformation temperature of M → Ni5Al3 determined the highest operating temperature for the shape memory effect. For verifying the critical temperature, the phase transformation process was investigated for eight ternary Ni-33Al-X alloys (X=Cu, Co, Fe, Mn, Cr, Ti, Si, and Nb). Only Ti, Si, and Nb additions were found to be effective in dropping the M s temperature, and they facilitated the shape memory effect in Ni-33Al-X alloys. In particular, the addition of Si and Nb raised the transformation temperature of M → Ni5Al3, a potentially beneficial effect for shape memory at higher temperatures. This study presents a novel current loop design method capable of automatic flux-weakening control with minimum copper loss for surface mounted permanent magnet synchronous motors (SPMSM). The proposed current controller can automatically re-compute the d-axis current command to defer output voltage saturation. Consequently, the motor operations in the flux-weakening region are also contained in the stable operating region. Analysis results indicate that since the output voltage vector in the flux-weakening region produced by this controller is consistently on the boundary of the maximum output voltage vector allowed by the inverter, the corresponding flux-weakening current is the optimal value in the sense of minimum copper loss. This minimum copper loss design differs from the maximum output torque design and the constant power design of the flux-weakening control methods found in the literature. Experimental results further demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed current controller and its ability to maximize the speed range of the motor drive for a given inverter capacity.  相似文献
